Breast Cancer Awareness
Hey lady!
When was the last time you went to the doctor? Heck, when was the last time you took a break to even THINK about scheduling a doctor’s appointment for yourself?
If you are a mom, I bet once you hear an “Aaa-chooo” or the sniffles, your kiddo has an appointment for soonest available. If you are married, I’m sure you are the one to schedule your partner’s appointment. If you are a high achiever/boss babe, you probably don’t jump at the first fever, stomach virus, or excessive migraine and plan to push through.
Now let me guess… do you usually hold off from scheduling for yourself until things are absolutely necessary? Perhaps you’ve ignored your body so long that you don’t even know when it’s worth going to the doctor. Because for you, going to the doctor means all the balls you are juggling into the air will fall. You will now have to focus on your health and that means you might have to pause everything you are “pushing through”.
What if I told you Breast Cancer doesn’t always provide that window to wait until you’ve met “this goal” or gotten “this deadline” done?
According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Yes, you are right, this is scary.
Screening is powerful: it can prevent cancer entirely and can help you take control early if there is a diagnosis. There is a 99% chance of 5-year survival rate when detected early on ; that means at least 5 more years added to your life, potentially lessening the level of treatment, and hopeful chances of being cancer free in the future.
The screening, itself, takes 15 minutes. Of course, let’s be real and add the drive and wait time. So possibly 2 hours out of your busy schedule… and ultimately adding years :)
So don’t push through this one babe and schedule that screening.
